Personal Story: As I See It Part III
From Peter to Paul
So why did I, like many others, become a Trumper? First reason…
Well, I believe you are entitled to what you work for. I don’t believe I’m entitled to what other people work for. I’m not jealous of people who are successful or have more than me, because I figure they worked hard for it. The Democrats always seem to have policies that encourage people to not try to be successful or work, because the more you work the more they want to take for their entitlements for those that refuse to work. The system is set up to punish the cart pullers, and reward those jumping in the cart for a free ride. Free riders don’t seem to understand nothing comes without a price. I’m all for merit and need-based financial aid for college and helping those who can’t afford health insurance. However, even in those instances the system encourages people to work less and make less money. Making just a little more money could cut you out of receiving any college funding or temporary health insurance assistance, while still not actually being able to afford to pay for it. In many cases, it also encourages the welfare state. People get accustomed to expecting the government to supply everything, instead of working on being self-sufficient and productive in society. I’ve witnessed the manipulation of the system both in California and elsewhere. Woman, unmarried, has 4 or 5 children receiving $400-$500 per child, father nowhere to be found; or couple remain unmarried, so single woman receives money benefit. Along with the money assistance comes other assistance in food stamps, free medical, education, and other services. Not uncommon in the welfare state to have no one working or trying to work. It is common to have a household full of several generations of people, grandparents, father, mother, several adult kids, boyfriends, baby mommas, illegitimate children running everywhere… and no one is trying to work because they live off the government. There is opportunity there, but no one takes it. The system should be set up that anyone who is willing to work hard, should have the opportunity to succeed. Not to say that there should be a guaranteed outcome, but equal opportunity to do what you are intellectually and physically able to do; a clear path if you are willing to work at it, to succeed. Equality not equity. The Left encourages the welfare state. Democratic debates are comical to watch, each one trying to outdo the next, who can promise the most free stuff, in exchange for votes. Free college, free health care, free guaranteed income, free, free, free! These people don’t understand human nature; that anything we think is free we devalue and take for granted. We don’t rise to the occasion because free stuff gives us self-worth; we become lazy. We don’t contribute to make society better; we become leeches. Free usually means they are stealing from Peter to give to Paul; and if Peter objects, he is attacked and denigrated. Leftists talk constantly about the rich paying their fair share, yet the top 1% of earners pay 40% of our taxes. It seems like the ones that keep demanding other people pay more are either the recipients of the free stuff, or ridiculously wealthy people who won’t miss a billion or two in extra taxes. These wealthy people just chant along to seem more like one of the people, not an elitist whose real goal is to control and subjugate the rest of us.
My business, like many others, relies on successful people needing my goods and services. When you attack those people with excessive taxes it trickles down directly to me, and anyone like me, who are the working middle class, living paycheck to paycheck. Businesses supply jobs. If you overtax and over-regulate companies, there will be fewer jobs. Thanks to the Democrats and the Obama administration, most businesses won’t hire fulltime anymore at least for entry-level jobs. People are trying to shuffle 2 or 3 part-time jobs, and those are getting harder to find. In California, businesses are fleeing to more business-friendly red states. All while Governor Newsom, makes working as an independent contractor illegal. Hmmm, and he can’t figure out why people are leaving, and why there are so many homeless? Beyond clueless.
